Director Li Bo Received the Roots-Seeking Group from Holt International Children Services

From Jun 22 till Jul 7 of 2014, the Bridge of Love Adoption Service received a roots-seeking group organized by Holt International Children Services, which was made up of 15 adoptive families, including 21 Chinese adopted children. On the afternoon of Jul 2, Mr. Li Bo, the director of the China Center for Children’s Welfare and Adoption and BLAS received the families at the Center.

He firstly made a brief introduction to the families of the carrying out of the Chinese foreign adoption work, thanked the families for adopting children in China as well as helping them back to find their ties. Subsequently, he presented gifts for the children, wishing for the families’ happiness and well-being and that all the adopted children would bear in mind their parents’ nurturing, the welfare homes they used to live and the caregivers who have ever tendered them, often come back and visit and contribute to the friendship between our two peoples.

In the multi-functional room, the staff of BLAS had a vivid interaction with the Chinese adopted children. They taught the children to write calligraphy and cut paper hand by hand. As a result, they could not only write the Chinese characters “Fu”(meaning “merry”) and “Ai”(meaning “love”) with a brush on paper but cut papers in several different patterns. The colorful cultural classes were highly spoken of by the parents and admired by the children. After the classes, the families visited the office area of the Center to further understand the Chinese foreign adoption procedures.

Started in 2006, it is the ninth consecutive year of cooperation between BLAS and Holt International Children Services in operating the roots-seeking programs. According to the plans for this year, after the activities in Beijing, the families split up and headed for the respective welfare houses where their adopted children used to live in the provinces of Shaanxi, Jiangsu, Anhui, Hunan, Jiangxi, Sichuan, Guizhou, Guangxi, Guangdong, Fujian and other places to fulfill their heritage tour.
