CCCWA Met with Officials from Australian Embassy and Consulate-General

  On the afternoon of November 5, 2015, Ms. Alison Bamsey, Adoptions Consul of Australian Guangzhou Consulate, accompanied by Ms. Kay Dunn, First Secretary of Australian Embassy in Beijing, visited CCCWA and had a meeting with Ms. Chu Xiaoying, Deputy Director-General. Directors of the Adopters’ Eligibility Review Division, Child Inter-country Placement Division and International Cooperation Division attended the meeting.

  During the meeting, Ms. Chu first gave a brief introduction on the main functions of CCCWA, the current situation and main changes of China’s inter-country adoption. Ms. Bamsey then had a detailed discussion with Ms. Chu on issues such as adoption waiting time, matching procedures of normal children and special needs children, updating of child files, and the use of the Child Placement Information System. They also had a brief communication on issues of overseas Chinese adopting from China, and ethnic Chinese living permanently in Austria adopting their relatives’ children in China.

  The Adoptions Consul is a position recently opened by Australian Foreign Ministry stationed in Guangzhou with the purpose of strengthening the cooperation in inter-country adoption between China and Australia.
